What we Do?
As I told you at the beginning our activities are just like in a foundation. Only difference is we are not registered it as a foundation. In our next level the reason for this will explain in details.
In here I’ll explain what we do. As you already know we serve to the Sri Lankan Deaf Community. Among the population of 20 million, more than 300,000 are hearing impaired. The recent statistic also proves that this number is correct as the Sri Lankan Deaf population.
From this 300,000 of Deaf people, there are over 75,000 deaf youth are currently unemployed in Sri Lanka due to the lack of education & vocational training.
Even though Sri Lanka has nearly 25 special schools & 730 special units for handicapped students which are currently well functioning around the country, they are seems not strong enough to cater to a deaf population of over 300,000 properly.
So, with the observation I had for years I thought I too can contribute from my end by bringing some light to the deaf community.
I started it in personal level and now I continue them in a more advance way with “Ahann (listen)” activities.
We mainly cater the deaf community in every possible way. So I categorized them into few main groups to make it easy & smooth to flow.
Education | Career | Spiritual | Talent Search | Life Support |
You can know what we do and how we serve them and what are results in all these sections. Our possibilities of serving the deaf community can insert to all these categories and this is kind of a full package to a deaf life from “Ahanna (listen)”!
