Learning Software in Sri Lankan Sign Language (SLSL)

Automatic Sign Language Translator

  • Communication Difficulty is the main obstacle in a deaf life. We need to do something to overcome this obstacle without a doubt.  
  • Yes, we do need more interpreters, as we have only 7 professionally qualified SLSL interpreters to cater nearly a 300,000 of Deaf Community around the country.  
  • Technology is a blessing if we use it correctly.  So, like in many countries, we do trying our best to introduce them to the Sri Lankan Deaf Community too.  
  • So, We are currently in a huge project of designing and implementing a Automatic Sign Language Translator. The gadget of this product will recognize the SL Signs and will translate in to voice or text and the vise versa!

Dictionary Series

  • In every language, a dictionary plays a highly important role.  That means it is important to advance a Language.  It is applicable to the Sign Language too.  Specially to share the Signs which are use in variouse ways, it's important to showcase them in an effective way.
  • So, we are currently on the process of designing the SLSL dictionary series as a video series.  
  • YES! it's a huge process just like our other activities.  So, patients will pay a golden price at the end!​

Educational Movies

  • We don't miss a single chance to give the best for our Deaf Community.  Movies are such an effective method to share our thoughts.  
  • So, we are planning to shoot some short movies to educate our deaf community.  
  • May be in future we can shoot a proper movie with our own deaf actors like in other countries!

"JTRT makes our dreams come true"

Jinasena Training and Rehabilitation Trust (JTRT) was initially known as JINASENA TSUNAMI REHABILITATION TRUST. It was established in early 2005, by the Directors of Jinasena Group to provide post Tsunami relief in the Western and Eastern Provinces.After completing the Tsunami related Rehabilitation work, in 2007, the mandate of the trust was changed to enable to undertake the following;  Differently abled is the limitation of a person’s ability to carry out the activities of daily living due to physical and mental impediments. This effects their education as they tend to get shut out of the normal learning streams. We use technology to make it easier for these people to integrate into society through specially developed software and the provision of purpose built learning laboratories. Visually impaired University students face tremendous obstacles in the pursuit of their studies, JTRT in recognizing these difficulties has donated special laboratories that makes it easier for these students to follow the same course that their sighted fellow students follow.
