Our Progress!
You already know how quickly “Ahanna (listen)” born. In the very same week District Secretariat Mr. Ranjith support us to register “Ahanna (listen)” as a personal company in Provincial Register of Business names for Southern Provincial with the Certificate No: MTR/1/9529 to cater the Sri Lankan Deaf Community.
As I do the wedding photography & videography for my living, this wasn’t so difficult to register as a legal company.
Mr. Ranjith also support through district secretariat to donate some equipment which I needed to continue my work for deaf community Sri Lanka. Because he believed in me and also he recognizes me with the service I done to the Matara District Deaf Community.
If the beginning is so blessed like this the progress can’t be stoppable.
Mr. Tissa Jinasena whom like a father to me supported to start my next programs, through JTRT trust fund.
After that we started our monthly spiritual programs to the deaf community in Southern Province with the founders of “The Project Nirvana Dhamma”. In the same year we started to work on Sinhala Texts Books in Sri Lankan Sign Language.
We started a project with Mark & Start which is run by Mark & Spencer group of companies in UK to start a Juki Machine Training Center and give job to trained deaf people in the M&S garment factories in Southern Province.
At the end of the 2 years we gave jobs to more than 100 deaf trainees and the progress of our spiritual programs, you can see in the spiritual section.
Education progress is visible in the education section and at the end of year 2 “Ahanna (listen)” is ready to start an Education Academy for Deaf Education in Sign Language.
We actually introduced Deaf Film Festival culture to Sri Lanka and we did 2 film festivals by now. We arranged art festival program to identify hidden talent in deaf community and it is well progressing too.
We launched our web site in the year 2014 itself and now we relaunched it with more features and facilities to serve Sri Lankan Deaf Community around the world!
The year 2017 will bring more new changes to the “Ahanna (listen)” and it is ready to serve many deaf people around the country without any religion or race barriers. Our progress can not to be pointed out in exact way as its huge. So, all you can do is go through our web site and explore our progress in each section!
